Some people think painting and drawings are as important as other subjects, and they should be compulsory in high school education.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Painting and drawing are not as universally important as core subjects such as mathematics, science and languages, so making them mandatory for all high-school students would be unnecessary.
第一个分句的主语是painting and drawing，之后是系动词和表语are not as universally important as core subjects，其中not as + 形容词 + as 表示“不如……那么……”，such as之后是对 core subjects 的举例。 该分句的主语是动名词短语making them mandatory for all high-school students，情态动词would之后是系动词be和表语unnecessary。
